We decided to finish out our Lyon visit with a trip to the giant urban park, TΓͺte dβOr. It was wonderful and worth it, but it meant we hit the road a little late and got stuck… yet again… in the French hunger games. We arrived hungry in Clermont-Ferrand and couldnβt even find an afternoon snack, nor a dinner reservation. After several failed attempts, we just had a drink at one place and waited until places opened back up. We ended up having a very suitable dinner that was willfully promptly forgotten, then crashed at our Airbnb, which was quite perfect.

We finally had a weird and not very good, but still fun, dinner dnnt

Also Clermont-Ferrand has buildings constructed with ancient volcanic rock. So the incredible cathedral and half the town sport a striking charcoal stone. π

The next morning we stumbled onto Clinton Hill Coffee Shop, named and modeled after the ownerβs time in Brooklyn, NY. And it just happened to have all 100% gluten free and dairy free pastries. Sooooo… Brandon was well prepared for the day ahead.

We really enjoyed Clermont-Ferrand.
But now it’s time to head to Pierrfort, after a couple roadside stops to look at cascades and castles…
