An Evening in Clermont-Ferrand

We decided to finish out our Lyon visit with a trip to the giant urban park, TΓͺte d’Or. It was wonderful and worth it, but it meant we hit the road a little late and got stuck… yet again… in the French hunger games. We arrived hungry in Clermont-Ferrand and couldn’t even find an afternoon snack, nor a dinner reservation. After several failed attempts, we just had a drink at one place and waited until places opened back up. We ended up having a very suitable dinner that was willfully promptly forgotten, then crashed at our Airbnb, which was quite perfect.

Meghan really loved the balcony of our Airbnb… she’s tiny, but she’s in there

We finally had a weird and not very good, but still fun, dinner dnnt

Also Clermont-Ferrand has buildings constructed with ancient volcanic rock. So the incredible cathedral and half the town sport a striking charcoal stone. πŸ‘‡

The next morning we stumbled onto Clinton Hill Coffee Shop, named and modeled after the owner’s time in Brooklyn, NY. And it just happened to have all 100% gluten free and dairy free pastries. Sooooo… Brandon was well prepared for the day ahead.

We really enjoyed Clermont-Ferrand.

But now it’s time to head to Pierrfort, after a couple roadside stops to look at cascades and castles…
